First Trimester Checklist (0-12 weeks)

First Trimester Checklist (0-12 weeks)

Pregnancy, alongside the hard work of growing your tiny human, is such an exciting time.

The nine months of waiting for baby gives you the perfect opportunity to plan & prepare for this life changing event & becoming a parent. There are many things to think about during pregnancy, from health, to baby names, to breastfeeding. Making a checklist & dividing your pregnancy into trimesters allows you to plan effectively & efficiently, allowing you to relax knowing you have everything covered.

First Trimester Checklist (0 – 12 weeks)

Keep your checklist realistic and try not to do everything at once, and don’t panic if you don’t get everything done. Be specific about your personal needs, just because something worked well for another person, but it doesn’t sound like your cup of tea, do what works for you.

  • Begin taking Proceive Pregnancy Trimester 1, it is specifically tailored to the nutritional needs of this trimester & contains all the folic acid required. Ticking your nutritional box every day will put your mind at ease and allow more time for planning and organising.
  • Maternity care – Make an appointment with your GP to sign up for the Maternity Infant Scheme. Research your maternity care options: Hospital? Consultant? Midwife? Hospital Birth? Homebirth? Book this as soon as possible
  • Safety – If you drink alcohol or smoke, you should stop immediately. Be aware of foods & products to avoid or reduce during pregnancy. Avoid contact & extreme sports.
  • Research birth & birth options and discuss these with your birthing partner so that you can work together towards the birth you would ideally like to have.
  • Parenthood – if you have a partner, discuss parenting styles & expectations. Support each other on the journey to parenthood.
  • Nutrition – Eat ‘little and often’ if you cannot manage big meals at this time. Aim to drink 2 litres of fluid minimum daily throughout your pregnancy.
  • Rest – get as much rest as you can, take it easy and go to bed early.
