Second Trimester Checklist (13 – 27 weeks)

Second Trimester Checklist (13 – 27 weeks)

You have made it through the first trimester and hopefully any morning sickness or discomfort has begun to subside.

Begin taking Proceive Pregnancy Trimester 2 Supplement, it is specifically tailored to meet the nutritional requirements of this trimester.

RESEARCH AND BOOK ANTENATAL CLASSES

Hospital classes can book up quickly, so book early. Private Antenatal classes are also available & may suit you better. This trimester is a good time to take up a Pregnancy Yoga, Pilates or Aqua Aerobics class. Hypnobirthing classes may also help to prepare you for birth and provide relaxation techniques for during your pregnancy.

CARE FOR YOUR CHANGING BODY

Its not always easy (especially if you have toddlers running around already) but it is always worth it. Begin or keep going with pelvic floor exercises & gentle exercise. Buy some comfortable, quality maternity bras, to accommodate your changing breasts, that will last you beyond pregnancy and into breastfeeding.

CELEBRATE YOUR PREGNANCY

Document your changing body; you could take photos as your pregnancy progresses. Keep a pregnancy journal or write a letter to your baby. Start thinking about baby names (if you don’t already have some favourites in mind!)

SPEAK TO YOUR EMPLOYER

Inform your workplace of your pregnancy, they may need to do a risk assessment. Ask about Maternity Leave and request the forms required.

RESEARCH BABY ITEMS

Prioritise & budget for baby equipment. Essential items for a baby include: a car seat, a sling, a buggy/travel system & a place for baby to sleep. Midwives recommend that babies sleep in the same room as their parents for at least 6 months, so no need to worry about a nursery just yet! Also bear in mind that people may gift you clothes and baby items when baby arrives. There is no need to buy everything now, you can purchase items as you need them.
